Weather Tools

Bringing clarity and scale to California’s water forecasting

Weather Tools had built an accurate seven‑year precipitation forecasting product, but low visibility and outdated delivery systems were limiting growth. Their website focused on a single report, and operational inefficiencies made it hard to scale—especially with new products coming online. We partnered with Weather Tools to refine their messaging, redesign their website, and build a unified platform that showcases their full suite of forecasting tools while streamlining delivery for subscribers.

The Challenge

Growth held back by outdated systems

Weather Tools came to us in December 2023 with a forecasting product that had been accurate for seven consecutive years—but almost no one knew about it. Their California Annual Precipitation (CAP) report predicted annual rainfall for each water year in California, serving water managers, agricultural operations, municipalities, water districts, and energy companies. Despite its track record, awareness was low and sales were stagnant.

Their existing website was built entirely around the CAP product, but it no longer reflected what Weather Tools actually offered. As conversations with prospects had evolved over the years, so had their product suite—but the website hadn't kept pace.

Adding to the complexity, Weather Tools was preparing to launch a new product: CRAFT (California Reservoir Annual Forecast Tool), an inflow forecasting system covering 18 of California's largest reservoirs. They also offered daily forecasting tools built primarily for growers. The website needed to communicate the value of all three offerings without losing focus.

And there was an operational problem. The CAP report was delivered as a PDF, with seven different versions manually created and emailed to subscribers. With CRAFT launching in November 2024—bringing even more forecast permutations—PDFs were no longer sustainable. The time required to produce them would increase dramatically, and the risk of errors would skyrocket.

Our  Approach

Turning data into a seamless experience

  • 01

    Clarity first

We started by refining Weather Tools’ brand messaging and defining key audiences. From there, we developed a content marketing strategy including a newsletter and LinkedIn posting cadence to build awareness.

  • 02

    A unified marketing site

We designed and built a new Webflow marketing site that clearly communicates the value of CAP, CRAFT, and daily forecasting products, presenting Weather Tools as a cohesive solution for California water intelligence. Clear calls to action guide visitors to schedule meetings, while three lead magnets capture interest at different stages of the buyer journey.

  • 03

    Subscriber portal

To solve the delivery challenge, we built a subscriber portal on Webflow with passwordless login, allowing users to access only the forecasts they purchased. This replaced the manual PDF process and created a scalable delivery mechanism.

Both the marketing site and portal share a common Webflow workspace and design system, giving Weather Tools a seamless experience managing both platforms.

  • 04

    Streamlined sales process

We also helped Weather Tools implement a sales process for their consultants, migrating them from HubSpot (which was overkill for their needs) to a Zoho Bigin CRM paired with MailChimp for email. The switch saved them over $400 per month in recurring software costs while giving them better visibility into their pipeline.

Website Design

A reimagined website brought all Weather Tools offerings into focus, helping prospects quickly understand what’s available and why it matters—without overwhelming them or diluting the message.

Subscriber Portal

The portal replaced manual report delivery with a reliable, self-serve experience, reducing operational strain while giving subscribers faster, more accurate access to the forecasts they rely on.

LinkedIn Ads

Targeted LinkedIn ads helped introduce Weather Tools to the right audiences, turning a highly accurate but under-recognized product into a visible and credible solution in key markets.

The Solution

A platform for scalable growth

The unified platform brings Weather Tools’ products together in a single, seamless experience. Subscribers can access forecasts easily through the secure portal, while the marketing site and CRM/email workflows give the team clear visibility into engagement and opportunities. This structure not only streamlines operations but also positions Weather Tools for scalable growth and broader market awareness.

The Results

Turning data into a seamless experience

The new marketing site launched in April 2025. In the 12 months since we began working with Weather Tools:

  • 218% increase in active website users compared to the same period the previous year

  • 25% growth in email list size through lead magnets and improved capture

  • 300% increase in LinkedIn followers and connections through consistent content strategy

  • 100+ subscribers now using the portal for forecast delivery

  • $400/month saved by migrating to a right-sized CRM and email platform

Before the redesign, Weather Tools couldn't answer a basic question: how effective is the website in driving sales? Now, with lead capture tied to a CRM and clear attribution, they know exactly who's coming to them through the site and where opportunities are in the pipeline.

We continue to meet with Weather Tools weekly to refine their sales and marketing efforts and develop strategies for building awareness in new markets.
